BABYWEARING

FOLKLORE
A Breif History
Much like our primate ancestors, humans have been carrying our babies since ancient - even prehistoric - times. Because human babies require a greater amount of care for a longer period of time than many other species, humans have applied ingenuity and adaptability to solve the issue of being able to perform daily survival tasks while carrying for our young. There is even evidence that babywearing devices were some of the earliest tools developed by humans, as they allwed our nomadic ancestors to carry and protect our vulnerable babies. As such, babywearing traditions and material folklore developed in cultures throughout the world and carriers can be found made from countless materials and designs that reflect the unique lifestyles, climates, and values of the cultures in which they are found.
